Alex Jones fired a double and Harry Clarke netted a single as Rangers fought off title-chasing Penyffordd in a 3-2 outcome.
Hawarden made a bright start, causing Penyffordd problems from the kick off.
And the Blues' impressive start paid dividends when Harry Clarke put the Blues in the driving seat on 6 minutes. Clarke got on the end of a precision cross from team-mate Alex Jones, whose tireless work was influential in the goal.
Alex proved too hot to handle for the Penyffordd rearguard and churned out an imposing display. He was remunerated for his performance when he bagged his first of the night on 32 minutes and doubled Hawarden’s advantage. Jones was on cue to poke the ball over the line after Edward Lloyd darted into the box and rifled his shot off the post and into the path of the scorer.
Hawarden deserved their 2-0 interval lead but rode their luck after seeing Penyffordd bungle two glorious chances.
The second half saw Penyffordd pile on the pressure as they searched for a goal to kickstart a comeback.
Hawarden resisted the pressure though and made it 3-0 within a couple of minutes of the restart, Alex Jones netting his second of the game. A lapse in communication led to a collision involving the Penyffordd defender and goalkeeper and allowed Jones to slot the ball through an open goal.
Rangers' 3-0 lead disintegrated when Penyffordd pulled one back after the restart, but the Blues held on and ensured an euphoric cup final success.
