Great start to the season

On what was probably the nicest day of the year the lads got the 2012 - 2013 season underway with a solid 3-2 win away from home against Holywell Town Juniors.

The game started well with the lads passing in triangles and working well together as a team, throughout the game it was clear that the lads were determined to do well and pushed themselves at times to the limit. Holywell to their credit kept going well and always looked dangerous on the break.
The game was even when Alec broke down the right, shooting well but his attempt was well saved, on the rebound the ball was fired back towards the Holywell goal and by some fortune, the ball found itself in the Holywell net, the final touch coming from a Holywell defender - 0-1 to Hawarden.
Half time arrived and the lads had put a lot of effort into this game.
The 2nd half kicked off, within the first 5 minutes, Holywell created a corner, although the ball should have been cleared, Holywell were first to react and the ball was fired into the Hawarden net - 1-1, not a good start to the half. The lads continued to play the football, passing the ball well and looking to help each other. Through another good attack, the lads got themselves another corner, this being one of a number the lads had created. From the left, Alec played the ball in low which Joe was first to react too, with a depth first time touch, the ball flew into the Holywell net - 1-2 up. The game continued and Holywell continued to create several chances but the lads continued to defend well, until Holywell again broke out of defence, our lads were slightly slow to react and Holywell poked the ball into the net - 2-2.
The game moved on and the lads continued to battle for everything, they continued to pass the ball well and started to again create several good goal scoring opportunities. Jack R then gets a throw-in on the right, half way in the Holywell half, quick thinking, he releases Correy who unleashes an unstoppable shot which shot past the Holywell keeper into the top of the net, great goal - 2-3 to Hawarden.
Although Holywell continued to try and get the equaliser, the lads defended well until the final whistle. Great first win, well done lads, keep this going.
