This week the spotlight is on the under 11 boys…

This week we caught up with Rich Evans, who is assisted by Sam Gray, in running the under 11 boys section of the club. Rich, along with the rest of the Evans’ family, has a rich history at the club, having been involved as a player and coach for over 30 years! And in true ‘Under the spotlight’ fashion, is one of the current playing squad for the Vets side!

Here’s what he had to say on…

his time at the club...
I have been involved in coaching the age group since mini-kickers pre-school. As well as coaching the U11s I have recently joined the management team of the First team and am also a playing member of the Vets squad. Hawarden Rangers has been a massive part of my life, having played at all levels of the club since the age of 10.

his enjoyment coaching…
I thoroughly enjoy coaching and particularly seeing the team and individuals develop from season to season.

the team…
The age group has been particularly successful and I am proud to have contributed to the development of all players of differing abilities. One proud moment for the team was winning our own Hawarden Rangers Annual Tournament last Summer.

the season so far…
We have had another good start to the season and are looking to continue to develop and improve, focusing on a team ethos and trying to encourage football to be played 'in the right way.'

the support system around the side…
We’re lucky to have a fantastic group of parents who are really supportive and make sure we have excellent availability for matches, training and social functions.
I’d also wish to thank the extremely hard working committee behind the scenes who provide no end of support to me and all the coaches at the club.

a look ahead to the future…
In anticipation of the one player one club rule next season, it is likely that we lose some of the current team to academy football. As such, we will be looking to recruit a number of players for next season and would ask anybody interested to get in touch with the club.

Is anyone is interested in joining the side please get in touch via our social media channels or by emailing hello.hrfc@gmail.com
